Digital Movie Makers Camp 

cLights, camera, action! This camp is perfect for creative storytellers ready to step behind the lens. Camp Sugarland First Colony Campers will learn the fundamentals of filmmaking, scriptwriting, directing, and editing, while working together to produce their own short films. Using iPads and digital tools like Cap Cut and iMovie, they’ll explore editing software, storyboarding, and special effects to bring their visions to life.

Story Telling Workshop

Campers participate in an interactive workshop led by a local theatre troupe, where they explore storytelling, character development, improvisation, and performance. Through guided activities and group collaboration, students learn how actors bring stories to life — skills they’ll apply directly to their own film projects.

At the end of the week, campers roll out the red carpet for a special on-campus film premiere. Families are invited to watch the short films campers created together, celebrating their creativity, teamwork, and storytelling from script to screen.

Houston Museum of Fine Arts Films

Campers take a guided field trip to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts theater to experience films in a professional cinematic setting. This trip helps students understand visual storytelling, sound, and audience experience while inspiring their own creative choices as filmmakers.

– All films chosen will be age appropriate. Parents will be notified of the film selected in the weekly parent newsletter before camp begins.  

 

Daily Activity Schedule

  • 9:00 AM CAMP BEGINS
  • 9:00 AM INSTRUCTION
  • 9:30 AM CREATIVE PROCESS BEGINS
  • 11:45 REVIEW AND SAVE PROJECT
  • 12:00 PM LUNCH

After lunch ALL campers will be placed into age groups and will participate in counselor led activities.

  • 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM REGULAR PICK UP
  • 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM EXTENDED DAY & PARENT PICK UP
