Camp Outback is an action-packed, adventure-style summer camp designed for Sugarland campers who love to move, explore, and challenge themselves in the great outdoors. Over five exciting days, Sugarland campers experience a full week of classic summer fun: swimming, hiking, horseback riding, zip ling, and rock wall climbing. Each day is thoughtfully planned to balance excitement, physical activity, and safety, allowing campers to build confidence, try new challenges, and create unforgettable summer memories — all while being supported by Elite University Summer Camps’ experienced staff.

Horseback Riding

EJC Farms • On Campus

On Horseback Riding Day Midtown Campers will learn all about their horses, how they are cared for, and how they are ridden. Children will also be taught about horseback riding safety and taken for a private riding session ride with EJC Farms staff. Learning units include: mounting, dismounting, leading, and walking in a straight line. Older campers will be engaged in intermediate and advanced units such as: trotting, posting, turning, halting, and cantering. All campers will be taught the basic tenants of  horsemanship: care, grooming, tacking, and recognizing the behaviors and needs of horses.

Geronimo Adventure Park 

Campers will be bussed from Elite University Summer Camps – Camp Midtown Geronimo Adventure Park! Gear up for an unparalleled field trip at Geronimo Adventure Park! Zipline through the treetops! Each course offers thrilling ziplines, suspended bridges, and unique aerial features.Throw axes, ninja stars, and knives under the supervision of experienced “Ax-perts.” Conquer 24-ft outdoor rock climbing wall with 4 unique climbing trails.Dive into a game of laser tag or capture the flag in the forest, where teamwork and strategy come to life! Houston Arboretum & Nature Center 

Campers will engage in a field experiences led by staff naturalists. and Camper will be introduced to basic ecological concepts. Students are given an overview in the classroom, which is followed by hands-on activities in the 155-acre nature sanctuary. Campers will explore the Arboretum’s ecosystems using their built-in toolbox – their senses! Students will take a nature hike through prairie, woodland, savanna, and wetland habitats. Along the way, make
observations of the interacting communities and finish with time to reflect creatively about their nature experience.

Quillian Memorial Center

There is no better way to beat the heat than by taking a refreshing dip in the pool. Our little ones will enjoy the Noah’s Ark Splash Pad and our older campers will enjoy the Big Pool featuring thrilling slides! Quillian Center is the place to be this summer! Voted one of the best pools by Great Day Houston. All campers will have to undergo a swim test to swim in the Big Pool area. All swimming will be supervised by Elite University Summer Camps staff and Quillian Memorial’s lifeguards.

Inspire Rock Climbing Gym

Elite U Campers will be bussed to Inspire Rock Climbing Gym for this fun-filled week. Indoor climbing does more than help kids get active in a fun encouraging environment. Climbing also boosts children’s self-esteem, ability to focus, and drive toward accomplishment. Campers will learn the basics of rock climbing which includes: basic technique, movement, and efficiency, climbing grading systems, how to top rope belay, training techniques as well as injury prevention.

What Is Camp Outback?

Camp Outback is an outdoor adventure styled summer camp provided by Elite University Summer Camps. Camp Outback is designed for kids who love to explore, move, and learn through in person physical experiences.

How Many Field Trips Does Camp Outback Provide?

Camp Outback provides four field trips. Swimming, zip-lining, rock wall climbing, and hiking all all field trip hosted experiences. Horseback Riding will be held on Campus.

Are Field Trips Included In The Tuition?

Yes, all field trips and experiences are included in the tuition.

How Is Transportation Handled For Field Trips?

All transporation for Camp Outback is coordinated and supervised by Elite University Summer Camps. Campers travel together by chartered bus to and from off-site field trips. Transportation costs are included in tuition, and buses are drived by licensed, insured drivers. Camp staff are present at all times performing roll calls before boarding, after boarding, and during scheduled activities while off campus. 

Where Do Campers Depart From Each Morning?

Campers are dropped off each morning at their Elite University Summer Camp location. All daily departures and returns, including field trip days, take place from the camp site. 

Can Parents Drop-Off or Pick-Up At Field Trip Locations?

No. For safety and supervision purposes, all campers must depart from and return to their Elite University Summer Camps location. Parent not drop off or pick up at field trip locations is not permitted.

What Is The Staff To Camper Ratio?

Our staff-to-camper ratio is 8:1. All field trips are supervised by trained camp counselors who oversee small groups, along with a dedicated Field Trip Director to ensure safety, organization, and accountability throughout the day.

Are Staff Trained In Offsite Supervision And Emergency Procedures?

Yes. All staff are trained in offsite supervision, emergency procedures, CPR First Aid, and reconizing the signs of heat exhaustion. Staff are trained to monitor hydration, provide regular, water breaks, and adjust activities as needed to keep campers safe.

Are Activities Led By Certified And Professional Instructors?

Yes. Activities are led by professional instructors and staff at each field trip destination. Elite University Summer Camps carefully selects field trip locations that meet high safety and operational standards. Elite U staff remain present at all times to supervise campers and support safety and behavior.

How Does Elite Handle Heat, Weather, Or Rain?

Camper safety comes first. Staff actively monitor heat and weather conditions throughout the week with special attention to Houston summer temperatures. Camp schedules may be adjusted due to inclement weather. Activites are planned to provide frequent hydration breaks, utilizing shaded, or indoor spaces, and schedule modification as needed to keep campers safe. Parents will be notified the week of if there are any changes to the schedule due to inclement weather.

What Ages Is Camp Outback Best Suited For?

Camp Outback is designed for campers ages 7 – 13. Activities are age-appropriate and accessible for a range of experience levels. Because swimming is included, campers should be comfortable swimmers. No prior experience is required for: horseback riding, zip lining, rock wall climbing, and hiking. 

What Do Campers Need To Bring Each Day?

• Backpack

• Camp T-Shirt

• Sack Lunch (if not enrolled in meal plan)

• Change of Clothes

• Closed-toe athletic shoes (no crocs or sandals)

• Reusable water bottle

• Swimsuit & Towel (for waterbased activities) 

• Sunscreen (applied at home; labled for reapplication)

• Hat or cap
